Overview

SwimOnCourse ("the app") is an open water swimming navigation app for iPhone and Apple Watch developed by Robert Helton. This Privacy Policy describes how the app handles your information.

Data We Collect

SwimOnCourse accesses the following data solely to provide its core functionality:

Location (GPS) — Used during active swim sessions to calculate your position relative to your destination and provide haptic navigation guidance. Location data is not stored beyond the current session route and is never transmitted to external servers.
Health & Fitness data — Workout data including distance, duration, heart rate, and calories is recorded to Apple Health on your device only. This data is managed by Apple's HealthKit framework and subject to Apple's privacy protections.
Weather data — Current weather conditions at your swim location are fetched via Apple WeatherKit at the time of your swim and stored locally on your device. No personally identifiable information is sent to Apple beyond what WeatherKit requires.

Data Storage

Swim history (route, distance, time, splits, heart rate, weather) is stored locally on your iPhone using Apple's SwiftData framework. If you have iCloud enabled, this data may sync across your devices via CloudKit — this sync is managed entirely by Apple and subject to Apple's iCloud Privacy Policy.

Data Sharing

SwimOnCourse does not share your data with any third parties. No analytics services, advertising networks, or external servers are used.

No Account Required

SwimOnCourse does not require you to create an account or provide any personal information to use the app.

Children's Privacy

SwimOnCourse does not knowingly collect any data from children under 13. The app does not target children.

Third-Party Frameworks

SwimOnCourse uses the following Apple frameworks, each subject to Apple's own privacy policies:

HealthKit — workout recording and heart rate monitoring
WeatherKit — weather conditions at swim location
CloudKit — optional iCloud sync of swim history
CoreLocation — GPS navigation
MapKit — map display

Changes to This Policy

If this Privacy Policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a revised date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
